How To Remove Spyware From Your PC
One of the most common mistakes people
can make is to use their antivirus product to try and
remove spyware and Adware.
It simply won't work.
The AntiVirus products are designed
to only detect and remove viruses, and not spyware.
Go to symptoms if you are
unsure of the difference between viruses and spyware.
What You Must Not Do:
Do not try and remove Spyware and
Adware yourself because:
a) You will never find them all
b) It would be impossible to search your entire PC
c) You will probably end up deleting vital files!
What You Must Do:
In order to remove spyware from your
computer, you need to use an antispyware product to
do the job automatically for you.
These products work in exactly the
same way as an antivirus product would in the sense
that it scans your entire hard drive for spyware threats.
Once found, they can either be quarantined
or directly removed. (Sometimes they are quarantined
just in case the file is actually required - it is possible
that the products can make mistakes, but it has never
happened to me).
Problems With AntiSpyware Products:
Ok, so now you know that you need
to use an antispyware product, but unfortunately it
is not quite as simple as that.
There are many products on the market
which simply do not deliver what they promise. Many
only detect and remove 50% of spyware/adware threats
on your PC, leaving you with an unfinished job and a
half-cured PC!
Here are a few pointers to look out
for when choosing an antispyware product:
- Make sure that the antispyware product has a large
database of spyware & adware threats - the more
threats, the more they can detect and remove!
- Make sure that it can scan on its own accord without
you having to instigate it to do so. This is called
realtime scanning. It basically means that the software
can detect new spyware without you having to manually
scan your hard drive - it's automated
- Make sure the product has log analysis - this means
that if you, as a user, are wary that you have spyware
on your PC but the software has not detected it, you
can email the details to the merchant and they will
find a solution for you - which is sent in the next
update.
This is very important because not
all antispyware products can find every single infection,
and therefore log analysis offers a solution to this
problem. Not many programs offer this.
Refer to my software
comparison page for a product that can match these
requirements.
Currently Paretogolic's XoftSpySEproduct
is capable of all of these features.
